Streaming from my smartphone

Hey guys, I bought a new HTC Android smartphone and this smartphone is amazing. It’s equipped with the latest technology and features an MHL connector. This connector is very useful for streaming movies or audio to your TV. If the signal isn't strong enough you could use something like a TV amplifier, in the Netherlands this is called a tv versterker.

MHL is a new standard, which gives your phone to ability to stream audio and movies in resolutions up to 1080p to your TV. And it only needs a one single cable, so it’s ideal for people with too many cables, like me. The cable is also very easy to distinguish, since it has a micro USB plug on one side and a HDMI plug on the other. Since it’s the only cable with this combination of plugs, it can always be found in no time.
It has already been announced that MHL will support wireless connections in the future, but unfortunately this is not possible yet. This is mainly because most TVs have not been equipped with WiFi yet. When TVs are ready for MHL and WiFi, you can charge your phone while playing media from your phone when using the cable to connect the phone to the TV. If you choose to stream wirelessly you can also charge your phone, but in this case you need to connect the phone to a normal power outlet or USB port. In wireless mode you can even use your phone as remote control.

It is expected that even more functionality will be added in the future, so let’s wait and see. The possibilities are endless!

Cables Drove me Nuts

Now I know that many people when they buy a new television they will go for all the wireless systems that they can fin. However, I was not like everyone else and I opted to get a television that had a ton of ports that I could hook my items into. The problem was that I forgot how many items that I had to hook into the television and surround sound and everything else. That led to me having a fun Friday night in trying to get these all hooked up.

The reason that I had a fun Friday night is because I forgot to label all of the cables when I was taking them off. That meant that I had about twenty cables all of different sizes and lengths to hook into my television and surround sound, but no labels as to what was for what. To make matters worse even though they were color coordinated, some of the cables were so old like for example my scart cable that the color had started to wear off! Did you know that they call a scart cable a scart kabel in the Netherlands, it doesn't differ that much from english. Now for many people they would have went step by step in getting the cables arranged, but for me I decided to rip them all out.

Let me tell you, that is a mistake that I will never make again. Anytime that I deal with cables I always label them, even if I think that they are wrong. At least then, I will not have to worry about messing up the wires anymore and spending a Friday night inside the house.

With my new sim only subscription from a Dutch company and a new smartphone (which is cable less), I had no problems at all.
